Not to mention the expression on his opp's face, since he owns the clock ! (FYI, it goes back on :) ... And watching someone walk thru Check to achieve a stalemate position is really fun ! ... Mate with 2 seconds left is great fun! But so is time-scramble in general, if you survive. . .

♡ 75 ( +1 | -1 ) surpriseIts fun when you don't play what your opponent is expecting and they immediately lose because of it. Your opponent thinks he is been really clever in moving his knight where you can take it with your pawn. He is expecting pawn take knight so he then plays QxN, he's just conned your pawn away from defending your knight. So you see it. You ignore his knight completely and move a pawn on the otherside of the board. Your opponent is so surprised that you didn't play what he was hoping, that he first blunders a pawn on his next move, and not content with that blunder then moves his queen where your knight forks it with the king and then promptly resigns.
♡ 51 ( +1 | -1 ) chess is fun!Told this story before, anyway...
When my sister and i learned chess with our father, we did it just by playing again and again.
Who must do the kitchen job - lets play for it. You have lost? Revanche game! 1:1 after the revanche game? We have to play a decisive game. After the decision: oh it is to late to work at the kitchen but maybe we could play a last game before sleeping and do the kitchen tomorrow (the story could be prolonged by drawn games!) - and so on
♡ 23 ( +1 | -1 ) sahm32323…I'm with you! After going for years with no-one to play… What's fun about chess is stumbling upon this site called Gameknot and suddenly being able to "crush skulls" from all over the world.

The thrill of that moment when it hits you "I might actually win this game" :)
Winning the game that you thought you could win!! :)

♡ 5 ( +1 | -1 ) winning a game…that you thought you were going to lose.
♡ 54 ( +1 | -1 ) losing a game...that you thought you were going to win....
Especially when that person has come a long way in chess skill and has finally reached the point of "someone not to be trifled with".
Basically, it isn't that it is "fun" to lose games like that, but I felt a certain "proudness" associated with losing a game to someone who has lost the majority of their games against me and has finally achieved a level in skill where a blunder on my part is severely punished and he simply makes all the right moves. *That* is a good feeling...

♡ 23 ( +1 | -1 ) Fun!!!!!Getting your first smothered mate against someone. (Did it at school last week. It was very amusing when I said mate. They didn't see it coming b/c my only piece on their side was the knight.)
♡ 7 ( +1 | -1 ) Getting to...actually sacrifice my queen to force a mate on the following move! :)
